First, Jaci, the reason I didn't e-mail that I didn't get into a hotel room until 11:30 ...
I got out of Danville around 3:30. The car that I borrowed (Jaci's son) was working okay, except when I came to a standstill in traffic. Then the temperature gauge kept going up, up, up! ======:-)
Things got interesting when I approached Interstate 81 & I-70. I thought that there was a fork in the road. NOPE. So I'm still on I-81. I'm thinking, Shit! But then there was a sign saying, "Boonsboro." Cool! I get on that road & it leads me to the highway that I wanted. Now I'm on this road, looking for the next turn-off. I didn't see it. So I kept following this one guy. The really cool thing is that I saw a deer! <g>
But I'm still looking for the highway to Harpers Ferry. As luck would have it, the guys I followed led me the right way!
Cool.
Harpers Ferry is very cool. A town on a cliff. I even saw a sign for Hilltop. COOLER. But I'm thinking food. So I head deeper into town thinking that I'd find the Golden Arches, etc., etc. NO DICE.
So I turn around & head for Hilltop. Found it. Went to the front desk & babbled that I was looking for someone named Nina ... BINGO! I go up to the room. What a cool, OLD hotel! THINK Stephen King's The Shining. Think the Overlook Hotel. And you have the Hilltop. Complete with those old fashion fire hoses. I'm thinking, Nora, a Divine Evil story would be the ultimate here! <ewg>
I get to the room. NO ONE IS THERE. <sob>
I go back downstairs. I see Phyllis sitting in the dining area! COOL! I walk in & there's JB & Jeannie, Debbie, Phyllis, & Gerri! <VBG>
They tell me that the others are out feeding their faces. I said I needed food, but that my budget could not handle the Hilltop buffet. Off I went for fast food. When I arrived back to the hotel, who is coming out to Sis's van? Ottis & Wym!
I go in to the Hilltop to the bar area ... which has been overtaken by Broads! Hugs & great welcomes all the way around. Plus we were able to meet some new faces--Tracey, Jennifer, Monica & her friend (up from Alabama). We're in the bar, talking, laughing, giggling, sharing ... some brought little goodies ... if Gaff gets hot tomorrow @ the signing, we have a sure-fire way to cool her down. <ewg>
As Nancy D has mentioned, some BB/Ns imbided in A LOT of alcohol! Especially our Ottis, Nancy D, and WYM! ========:-O
Then, after searching for them throughout the night, the infamous Board Brats entered the bar. :-) These are ladies from the internet who have become GREAT friends via the ADWOFF chatroom. There are four of them here--Rockin' Robin (Texas), Maria (Florida), Tonya (Ohio), and Lisa (Michigan). This TTP experience for them is almost identical to the TTP I experience--in that they've met one another via the chat room & messages posted on the ADWOFF messageboard. They descended upon the Hilltop without ever laying eyes on one another. I think that's so very special. <g>
The Brats are a little shy around us, but I have great hope that they'll be raring to party hardy with us tomorrow.
As the evening wore on, we began to get a tad bit rowdier. <g> Wym brought a game called "Song Burst"--you read the title & then you try to burst out in song. It was an absolute RIOT. Lotsa fun.
Well, the hour is growing later ... I have Ottis looking through pictures on Sis's digital camera; we'll try to get a couple posted here in the next hour or so.
OH. I almost forgot. An internet lurker, Laurie, & her friend, Kathy (a Nora virgin) also came to the Hilltop to join the festivities.
