Hey everyone!
Brief synopsis of the day ...
Many of the pictures that are just numbers were taken in the bar area AFTER we all got back for the day. The other pictures were taken @ TTP. Except for the two that I played with, none have been edited. I'll work on fine tuning things later down the road. <g>
As for today, unlike the past two years, today dawned cloudy. :-( We pretty much did our own thing for breakfast; Sis, Anonymous Diane, Wym, Ottis, Nancy, & I piled into the Dianemobile & headed for Denny's--where we met up with Carolyn & her sister-in-law, Tanya.
After breakfast, we drove over to TTP (in the rain). When we arrived, we were able to get a quick glimpse of Dan the Man <VBG> ... we entered the store, and immediately saw MK. I got a big hug <VBG> ... and she informed us that she was the official running the door prizes. As always, she looked great (unfortunately, no shots of MK on digital). Jason was also right inside the door. He had a hat on (thus, covering the blonde locks that are growing out) ... but as always, Jason lived up to his Roarke-in-training billing. <sigh>
The store had already started to fill up (it's only around 12:30) ... so Nora & BW were pretty frantic. <g>
Soon Gaff arrived. She gave me a kiss (on the cheek :-) and rushed by with extra books for BW. Then she came back & gossiped a little bit with us. I think that she was a little nervous about how well The Saving Graces would do ... she didn't need to worry! People were buying them like hotcakes! :-) She also was nervous about putting faces to names & vice versus. I told her to "fake it," but she said it'd be kinda hard since she'd have to personalized the books.
Soon, the store literally FILLED up with people! The line was LONG ... I mean, LONG!
I went through the line with books for me & a couple for the store--but I didn't have Elaine Fox's new one (The Impostor ... a very fun, clever time travel) because I didn't see her sneak in the store. <gulp> I'd have to go through the line again! ======:-O I also had to buy Gaff's The Saving Graces because I forgot my copy at home. Gaff didn't see the problem with this! LOL
After getting my second set of books signed, I went to play photographer. Because I wanted to get some great author shots, I hung out around Elaine & Gaff. Well, the AC was also right there (hey! I may be dumb but I'm not stupid!) ... I helped to sell a couple of Elaine's Traveler by telling everyone how awesome it is; I haven't finished The Impostor, but soon realized I had to plug it, too, especially since a character gets the "hairy eyeball"! Donna Kauffman was also hangin' out at TTP; as always, it was wonderful seeing her and shooting the breeze (i.e. bullshit ;-) with her.
It was then time to get ready to leave. I grabbed hugs from Elaine, Gaff, MK, & Donna (Nora was way back in the corner).
We then headed to Hagerstown to Barnwood Books--the place that Gerri & Nora like so well. Very, very organized! Then, because we're glutton for punishment, we went to the Hagerstown Wonder Books. <g>
For dinner, we traveled back to Boonsboro for a meal at the ??? ... We were most excited to find out that the U.S. women's soccer team won the World Cup in very dramatic fashion. <VBG>
After dinner, we headed back to Harpers Ferry. I directed them on a scenic route out of Sharpsburg; longer, but it is so pretty.
Once back at the Hilltop, it was time to decide what to do. Because Lloyd the bartender set up a table for us, we asked him if we could bring down some champagne that Edith brought us. He was very cool about it. We rewarded his wonderful service with an official ADWOFF t-shirt!
The pictures of Wym & Tracey & the candy will have to be explained later. Needless to say, these two find very interesting ways to entertain themselves. ;-)
The group then began to break apart & head upstairs. The group that I went to breakfast with descended upon the room I share with Sis & Ottis. We did the question books ... one about life & the other about love & sex. <ewg>
After awhile, a knock came at the door. The Brats! <VBG> They came in & joined the fun ... so we can officially say that the Broads met the Brats & lived to tell about it. (Again, more later)
Then, things really began to wind down. Time for bed ... for all but this night owl. <g>
Today will be a sad one ... as we begin to say ... "Goodbye."
But until then, we'll make the best of our time, and attempt to create as many wonderful BB/N moments.
Sue
