OK, here's my summary of this past weekend. In a word: FABULOUS.

I arrived at the hotel around 5 or 5:30. I was struck first by the character of the hotel. Sue said it best when she said it reminded her of the Overlook. I think the architect was Dr. Seuss, what with these hallways that circled around, and the maze of hallways. I actually had the nicest room of all of them, with lace curtains in the window and draped around the bed. Very nice. So it was a bit of shock when I saw some of the others. Debbie's (Frizzlet) room had a doorway to the bathroom that was only 5 feet tall. Another room had a bathroom that looped around behind a closet. No two rooms were alike, evidently designed by someone with multiple personality disorder.

After checking in, I went down to have the dinner buffet, having met up with several BB/N's in the lobby. Enjoyed the company of Elaine, Phantom Phyllis, and Debbie. The Two Jeans came in a little later. Then we figured out that the Board Brats were at the next table, so we introduced ourselves to them. Next, Sue walked in with a story about a traffic jam and an overheating car. ===:0

We all met in the bar. Lloyd was really quite the character; he was quite happy to be the only man in a room full of Board Broads. He really seemed to like Ruth after she asked him for Sex on the Beach. Kept coming over to give her some more <VEG> Anyway, we had a grrrrreat time in the bar. Everyone talking, laughing, eating, drinking and generally making merry.

After going back to my room, I couldn't bring myself to turn the TV off. (Lucky me, at least my room had a TV) It was such an old hotel that all the noises were . . . disturbing to me. Anyway, I figured the sound of the TV covered the other noises and anything I heard I could attribute to the TV. It wasn't until the brunch on Sunday that Nora told us about the bat that was flying around her room one night!!!!!!! (Up until then, I was only worried about mice.)

Jenn has already told you about the woman who passed out at the book-signing. I don't know if she passed out or just fell on the step between the rooms, but I do know she hit the floor hard. My daughter was with me at the book-signing (she left with my mil and aunt) and she was afraid to look. Anyway, although it wasn't funny at the time, I have to laugh now when I think about poor Jason. He was so upset when this lady fell, and he really wanted to help her and wasn't sure what to do. He seemed to be trying to help her up but wasn't sure where to put his hands and still remain a gentleman. He circled around her once or twice, sizing up the situation and then gave up and called BW. That poor guy!

Like Jenn, I didn't get all of the books signed that I brought. I didn't want to hold up the line. I bought four new books, including The Saving Graces. It was so hot, but the authors were gracious about it. (I seem to use the word Gracious a lot when I describe Nora, don't I?)

Anyway, it was cooler on the front porch. There was a bit of a breeze. I was talking with some other BB/N's when this lady, who was sitting on a chair on the porch, told me I was blocking her air and if I wanted to continue standing there, I needed to turn sideways. Time to diet, huh?

Went to some more UBS and then we went to the Old Pike Inn in Boonsboro for dinner, where we were all treated like something you scrape off your shoe. Really, those waitresses did not like us, just because we were there. But the food wasn't bad, and the company was good, so what the hey?

Well, its getting late and I'm tired. I'll have to give you another installment tomorrow.
