TTP II Memories from Wym

When Sue asked us to write about our favorite TTP moment, I thought it would be a piece of cake, that the hard part would be choosing only one memorable moment from the many that occurred. Imagine my horror as I stared at this blank sheet of white paper and COULDN'T REMEMBER ANYTHING!

Had too much time passed? Had I really forgotten everything? Was I older than I thought? Well, I dragged out the photographs (thank heaven for pictures!) and those in turn helped to jog the memory. But I didn't find my moment caught on film (at least, not by me.) Nope ... My favorite TTP moment involved a late night jam session as we Broads "rehearsed" for a performance that never took place. Let me explain.

Wym the "songwriter" worked hard on a little surprise for Nora. As I furiously reworked a well-known tune, Diane and Julian acted as critics/editors on the homefront. Ruth, NancyD, Sue and Tracey were sent revisions as they became available. Plans were made to perform The N-O-R-A Song at TTP - though in the end Sue and Trace decided public humiliation was NOT in their job description. Lol. At least they agreed to be in the room during the performance. Jaci didn't want to be within 10 feet of singing Broads and promised she'd get up and leave!

Anyway ... Saturday night, after we'd been kicked off the pool patio (once again the Broads were having too much fun!) the hotel management did allow us to hang out in the "breakfast room." The Broads that gathered there were treated to the first - and only - "rehearsal" of The Official N-O-R-A Song . I sang the lyrics I had written. The very familiar tune filled the room, along with Board Broads laughter and glee (all my favorite TTP moments involved laughter and glee.)

NancyD was standing, singing along, and added her very own Gypsy-Rose-Lee punctuation to the verses before each chorus: Nance boom Boom BOOMED to beat the band. Her added bumps and grinds won her the BOOM BOOM BOOM AWARD - the woman can thrust her hips with the best o'them - rofl)

On Sunday, as we arrived at the beautiful Bavarian Inn, I realized with a quick glance that this was not a place for The Official N-O-R-A Song to be sung, or for our Nancy's Boom Booms. Even still, though we didn't have the song memorized, we were game to sing it for the Queen. There was a gazebo outside and we could sing there.

But alas, the window of opportunity never presented itself. There wasn't time before lunch. We couldn't do it during. And after our delicious, elegant meal, when our single minded thoughts focused on our imminent departures and sad farewells, well, there wasn't the heart.

So, The Official N-O-R-A Song was never performed. But I've printed it here for your own enjoyment. And next time ... whenever there are Board Broads gathered together, maybe they'll raise their voices in song and laughter.
