DOH!!! Damn, uh.... my assignment...hmmm.... my plant ate it?
Seriously, though, there were so many!!!! I mean, Hershey park--what more can I say there? But actually, having lunch there with Debby and Nina and us getting lots of free stuff there and asking for even MORE (which she was nice enough to give us) was memorable.
Then our sneak attack on Danville. Only....Wym decided to be adventurous (which NEVER happens when it comes to driving) and take a different route to Danville other than the one Sue suggested. Hey, perhaps it was all that signage that said Danville was this way!!!! Only to get a wee bit lost. Right as we were driving around aimlessly, on the radio came a very appropriate song by the Clash, "Should I stay or should I go?" It was followed even more aptly by a current radio hit, "The Way," which has as part of the chorus, "But where were they going without ever knowing the way...." Enough said.
We planned that when we were near the store, I'd duck in the back seat so as not to be spotted. Only.....no one knew exactly where the store was, and I was tired of ducking, so I sat up RIGHT before we went by it! And then me sneaking in the back door, and waiting for Wym and Debby to give you hugs and finally going inside and rushing Sue and giving her a big hug...then the wait for everyone else, and when we FINALLY heard them coming I got pushed down behind the counter...only they came through the back door!!! Poor Sue was valiantly trying to hide me behind her leg while Nina mentioned "the surprise", but it wasn't working!! So I jumped up and I heard a chorus of "TRACEY!!!!!" It was wonderful!!! HUGE hugs all around and Nancy D. even had a tear or two in her eye. :-) Dinner was great and loads of fun at the restaurant. Jaci and Nancy had already eaten, but they came with us for some drinks and a snack. The poor waitress Jenn--it was her first night on the job and she was stuck with us!!! We had a lot of fun with her--poor thing has now had her trial by fire!!! And the hot tub that night--how many broads were in there???? And Jaci helpfully pointing out the best jets... <ewg> And the ridge....ahhhh, Nina in particular seemed to enjoy the ridge...
The drive to MD was so much fun! Lots of weaving and bobbing and speeding while Nancy D. had a death grip on the wheel trying not to lose Wym. And our rest stop to get gas, which was a trial in itself as Nancy was honking and flashing her lights to let Wym ahead of us know we were stopping! Which they apparently didn't see OR hear as when we stopped Wym made a Mario Andretti turn into the station....only to find we had to PAY a quarter to use the restroom!!! Sue and I were outraged and refused on principle--hey, we bought gas!! But Nancy came out with a special token, so supposedly we didn't have to pay. Though there was a sign in the bathroom "Please don't stand on the seat." Um, huh?
And ahhhh, how can I forget driving by SCOTLAND PA with everyone honking and pointing out the window as I whined to Nancy that we had to stop!!!!! <It didn't work--oy, she's one tough broad!> And Carolyn and I going on a beer run in her cool mustang--we were two happenin' babes!!! And I was FINALLY in the Mustang with the top down!!! <Though oy, it was cold on the way back as we got lost...>
Meeting all the broads was WONDERFUL!!! And my twin Lisa, LOL, it was great to finally meet her! And the dinners were all memorable events--especially breakfast in Boonsboro with only one waitress. This wasn't necessarily a bad thing as it gave Nancy D. more time to flirt with the bikers...
The book signing was so much fun, even if Bruce took one look at me when I walked through the door and said, "You can only enter your name for a door prize ONCE." Damn, busted before I even tried!!!!! It was rigged though--BOTH my roommies won, but I didn't!!! :-( Bruce busted me a lot trying to better my odds. Sophie was a great help. <G>
Seeing and meeting all those authors was great--and Mary Kay signing all my books STACEY is something I'll certainly have reminders of for the rest of my life... <did I mention how much I HATE the name Stacey?> but she felt soooo bad about it that it was worth it--hey, how many people have pictures of one of their favorite authors down on their knees in supplication? <ewg>
It was a neat experience to go look at BW's pictures at the gallery--he's so talented and his look of surprise <surprised pleasure I hope> was great to see. Then dinner at oldies night at the restaurant...well too bad we couldn't dance--THAT would've been memorable!!! But we had fun in our room of the restaurant and we sang and did a wee bit of dancing anyway!
And oh!!! How could I ever leave out talking to Julian??? But WHAT we talked about, I'll keep to myself... <ewg> And talking to my sis!!! Jenn, you'd better get your ass out here next year!!!!
Our lunch with Nora was fabulous--beautiful scenery, a great meal and a whole lot of fun. She loved Ruth's photo album of all our Nora encounters put together with a lot of help from the rest of the broads. Looking over all the pictures, and hearing Nora say loud enough for all the broads to hear, "My God, Tracey, you have no ass!!!" is something I personally won't forget!!!!
But then it was time to say goodbye to a lot of broads... :-( And they continued to dwindle over the next few days... THAT was not fun!!! Saying goodbye to everyone was sooo difficult!!! I was just glad that I got to extend SOME time with a few of the broads by going to D.C. I never knew that city was soooo....phallic! <ewg> Then one last dinner together, then I got to spend a wee bit more time with my cutie Eric <ok, well, he belongs to Carolyn> then I was on my way home--but full of MANY MANY WONDERFUL memories of one of the best times of my life!!!!!!
