Official Song of Board Broads/Noraholics

Well, the votes have been tabulated and a winner has been chosen!

What!

You didn't get to vote? LOL. Don't worry ... I had a certain song in mind all along, but had trouble finding the lyrics - seems the cassette is no longer printed (and my copy is in Kansas!) So, I rented the movie tonight and wrote down every word (well, the ones I understood) and have reprinted them here.

It's a wonderful song, Ladies - from one of the most socially significant movies of 1979. It embraces new Noraholics and old, the TTP trip and this board, and still manages to add a touch of obscure magic and whimsey.

This looks familiar,
Vaguely familiar,
Almost unreal, yet ...
It's too soon to feel, yet ...
Close to my soul,
And, yet, so far away ...
I'm going to go back there someday.

Sun rises.
Night falls.
Sometimes, the sky calls.
Is that a song there?
And do I belong there?
I've never been there,
But I know the way ...
I'm going to go back there someday.

Come and go with me,
It's more fun to share.
We'll both be completely,
At home in mid-air.
We're flyin', not walking
On featherless wings.
We can hold onto love
Like invisible strings.

There's not a word yet,
For old friends who've just met ...
Part Heaven
Part Space
Or have I found my place ...
You can just visit,
But I plan to stay.
I'm going to go back there someday.

I'm going to go back there someday.

The song is sung around a campfire where friends have gathered after a harrowing journey. The singer ... a small, turkey-like creature named Gonzo. His friends? Kermit the Frog, Fozzie Bear, Miss Piggy and a host of others.

And to quote Kermie and friends at the end of 1979's Muppet Movie ... "Life's like a movie, write your own ending ... keep believing ... keep pretending ..."

And sing with happy hearts.

Wym
