I'm packed, and this is no minor miracle. Four weeks away from home requires a major campaign in the wardrobe wars. Especially when professional gear is part of the package.
I think my husband's packed, but I try to stay out of that ugly little process.
Car's coming at one to take us to the airport. No direct flight from Dulles to Helsinki, so we fly--for 8-9 hours--to Frankfurt where we have a--God!--four hour layover. Since that's too awful to contemplate, I'm trying not to think about it. Another couple hours, we're in Finland where I imagine the first thing I'll want to see is a Finnish bed.
I was forced to shatter the illusions of my delightful Finnish publishers that I was a machine when they'd scheduled a television lunch and live interview two hours after my scheduled arrival in Helsinki. I don't think they wanted a wild-eyed, haggard incoherent women frightening whatever small children might catch this show. Interview, etc., moved to Sunday.
Hopefully, I'll be able to speak in complete sentences by then.
Now, as I can't trust my oldest son to water my flower pots, I need to move all my containers into the range of the sprinkler system. It's the last item on my to-do list, so I guess I'm really going.
I'll report from Helsinki as soon as I'm functional again.
