Beat. Seriously. LOL.
Thank God I didn't have to get rolling early
this morning. Jason drove us from wherever to
wherever. The bookstore where we were slated for a
stock signing sent out a flyer--against specific
orders--announcing my visit, with times. God. So I
had to sit and stay and sign and sit and stay. It's
not the customer's fault, you know? But we got a
nice lunch nearby, and it was a pretty shopping
area.
I found a wonderful shop with glass art.
Beautiful perfume bottle, a cute martini glass with
a little green frog on the stem and a lovely
iridescent glass vase. Hit another for a delightful
bronze flute-playing frog. Just a terrific piece
that will make me smile forever. A little pale
green fabric bag, great for summer and vacation.
Check into the hotel and have nearly an hour to
recoup.
Out again. Cooler, cloudy. Hit the mall and the
Waldens for the formal. Long line already formed.
We sign books and take pix with the staff, then try
to work out how to do a Q&A in the mall. LOL.
Marianne, comes up with a system--post-its and
numbers and a kind of informal free-for-all. It
worked fine.
Lovely crowd, again so patient with the wait. A
couple of the last are guys buying books for their
girl and their wife respectively. So sweet and
cute. Keepers.
Back to the hotel, and Marianne stays down to to
call the car service to see if we can keep our
wonderful Jason for more, if not all, of the rest
of the journey. He's just wonderful. Getting
married himself next month.
I come up and order nachos and champagne. Silly,
but it fits the bill.
Message for Leslie tell me The Villa is
number four for week three, and Carolina
Moon is number one on its debut.
Eat--culling through all the stuff to get to the
cheesy nachos. Drink, call home. Going to fall into
bed shortly. Tired, tired, tired. Have a library
fund raiser tomorrow, and a formal, but end up the
evening getting into NY. Thank God.
