Nora's The VillaNora's The Villa Tour 2001 Nora's The Villa

Wasn't going to do this tonight. I'm so tired, I'm half blind. But I'm so happy to be here, I hate to go to bed. LOL.

Anyway....

Checked out with the single elderly bellmen hauling my stuff. We got to keep our darling Jason another day!

Gloomy, dreary, chilly and rainy in Hartford. We drive to Waterford--not County Waterford, unfortunately, but CN. I have a library deal there--fund raiser for Literacy Volunteers--my particular hobby-horse.

We have a lovely group, with a long Q&A. Everyone is just delightful and fun and happy to have me. Very gratifying. I do my little show for just over an hour, then sign books. There's a very old lady from a nursing home who's been brought in because she wanted to come so much. She's a riot, and I have such fun with her. She just talks to me whenever she likes during my Q&A.

Still, afterward, I'm worn out. Jason drives through the rain back to Madison. We arrive early and find a restaurant. I eat lots, really stoke up on a steak sandwich and finish it off with a hot fudge sundae. Yummmmmm.

Time to kill. It's still rainy and cold. There happens to be a manicure place right next to the bookstore, so it seems like a fine idea to take advantage and sit down and have my hands rubbed. Two Oriental people, very young, boy and girl. I think bro and sis. I get Sis.

It's a nice little break, and I watch Bro do nail tips of the other customer. He's very serious and intense throughout the procedure.

We walk through the store. Pretty indy, a bit on the high end side. They've moved my deal to the library across the street as they have more people coming than they anticipated. I think, for the most part, this store deals with Literary stuff.

They're lovely to me, and set us up in a room in the library, bring me soda and holds.

We have a nice crowd, and I do about a 20 minute show as they've been asked to donate five bucks to the library to attend.

When I finish, we pile back in the car for the long drive to NYC. Hit miserable traffic, but Jason gets me here just after ten. I'm so happy to be in the hotel I know and love.

Send two bags of clothes down to be cleaned. Have two gigs tomorrow, one midtown in the afternoon, one on Long Island in the evening. BW should meet me midtown, if his train's on time. Long day today, long one tomorrow. With Buffalo looming on Saturday.

One more week. One more week.
