Nora Roberts's NORTHERN LIGHTS

Carla Reports ...

Noraholic Reporting In

Yes, I'd just seen Nora at TTP in Boonsboro on Saturday.  And, yes, I'd gotten my Northern Lights and was eyeballs deep into it, but did I let those facts stop me from driving down to Annapolis 3 days later to see her again? NO!

I was rewarded for my hour-long drive through bumper-to-bumper rush hour traffic (normally a 20-25 minute drive, at best) with a smiling Nora and about 20 million other fans flooding the Borders in Annapolis. WOW!  I'm not sure Nora or Borders was expecting such a huge crowd.  In fact, just before Nora came out to the mike, I overheard a store clerk lay out the plan:  Nora would take about 10 or 15 minutes of Q&As, then dart out the rear exit for a quick smoke break, then proceed to sign Northern Lights until the last fan left. HA!  Nora did indeed take several minutes of questions--"How long do you write every day?" About 6 to 8 hours.  "Do you ever have writer's block?" No, Nora said she refuses to believe in it.  "Will you ever do Aubrey's story from the Chesapeake series?" Absolutely not.  Aubrey's happy.  She's dating a doctor.  Nora's not revisiting that.

Naturally, Nora looked great--not at all like she had a cold coming on.  She was funny and gracious the whole time.

After the questions, Nora was shepherded straight to the signing table in mall-side window of the store.  I doubt if she got a break of any kind!  There were at least a hundred people in a line that reminded me of old TTPs when we'd snake through out the aisles of the store.  All kinds of fans joined the waiting throng!

Anyway, that's my report.  The photos I got weren't that great--I had an optimum position until a latecomer arrived and pushed in front of me!  The nerve!   I'll attach the pix anyhow.
