Diane's Notes ...

Whew!

It has been a great couple of days. I just wanted to pop in and let you know that the Denver leg of the tour was a complete success! <g> I seem to have eaten almost continuously, tho... no wonder I am feeling so narcoleptic! LOL.

Spending time with Nora was delightful. And what better place to dine with the Queen than at the Brown Palace?! :o) The Brown is one of Denver's historic treasures... very beautiful and elegant, in downtown. Our waiters were wonderful...most attentive. And the Caesar salad that they made for us at the table was superior to any I have ever eaten... and really fun to watch being made, right at the table. The filet was great, the escargot was interesting, and good (yep -- I actually ate snails. I have witnesses! LOL) The chocolate soup must be experienced to be appreciated, but trust me... to quote Nora in a book or three, "this is no small sin!" LOL

We met Martha (along with one of her lovely daughters and her two college pals) and Julie and also Debby's mom in Colorado Springs and had a nice lunch -- it was great fun to meet the rest of the Rocky Mountain contingent of Broads! <g> Maybe now we can coax Martha into coming to Denver sometime! <g> And Julie, it was great to meet you, too -- hope to see more of you, as well -- on the boards, and in person! :o) Just remember, ladies... we came to see you in the Springs -- it's YOUR turn to come to Denver! <vbg>

The Beth Ann's signing was a big hit. Lots of people, lots of books signed, and Wyo hit the motherlodeon mystery authors... she actually had to go through the cash register line twice! LOL. Martha, with entourage, and Julie had to leave relatively soon <pout>, but we hung out for the duration! Chatted with Nora, and munched on these glorious miniature cream puffs. ..

Then it was back to Denver. After a couple of errands, and dinner at Boston Market, we went to the Tattered Cover. The place was filled. Nora was inspired, and worked the room with charm, wit and skill. After a reading, she had a Q&A time, and then signed a few zillion more books. I saw her go through three pens in a matter of hours.

I can tell you that Nora made a big impression here... a very favorable one! She had us all in the palm of her hand as she answered questions about her work, what's next for Roarke and Eve, how she got her start, why she had to write out her earliest works in longhand (something about a demon-possessed Dan and his homicidal tendencies towards young Jason), where she gets her ideas and skills from (what was that about the pact with Satan, Nora?), among other things. :o)

Nora Roberts and JD Robb books were just flying off the shelves. And for those out-of-print, hard to find categories and older titles, when asked how one obtains these treasures, to whom did Nora refer people? Why, Nina4Books, of course.... where else?! <vbg>

We then said goodbye to Nora, and went to (where else) Chili's for a bit, then came home.

It was fun. Lots of great company and memories. Plenty of new treasures, and exciting reading material. No need to eat for awhile, tho! LOL

Thanks for the great visit Nora, and best of luck and Godspeed on the rest of your tour.

Wyo, Debby, Martha, and Julie... It was a pleasure. Let's do it again sometime soon.

And Happy Saint Patrick's Day to all!!!

Diane :o)
