Saks is a block away from the hotel. What could
I do? I had earned bouquet points at Saks this year
and had my certificate with me. Obviously, I had to
spend it. So I bagged two pair of shoes and a
jacket. It seemed right somehow.
This short foray came after Hair With Harold. He
gave Julie and her pal Joanne new dos. GREAT new
dos. They are now his slaves. He fluffed my hair
for the day. All this despite his hanging with Liz
and her pals at a jazz club until God knows the
night before. Whatta guy.
After hair, I hit Saks and BW and Harold went
over to check out a mutual friend's sculptures in a
shop in the Quarter. Then the three of us met for
lunch while Liz was off doing stuff uptown.
Did a quick stock signing at a Bookstar on the
way back.
Then it was off to Wal-Mart. Lots of friendly
faces from the boards there. Mostly Wal-Mart
signings are something that's on your slate to keep
the accounts happy. In this case, I had the benefit
of having faces to put with the names I connect
with almost daily. That was great. I was given a
Dammit Doll--a stuffed folk doll with long slim
legs you hold as you beat the head of the doll
against a solid object. LOL. I named it Liz. She
got a kick out of that and told me she was given
one sometime back and named it after her husband.
We came back to the hotel, had a wind-down drink
then went out to dinner. I got my blackened
redfish. Umm-mmm.
Have now eaten more in two days than I would in
a full week.
We part ways this afternoon. Liz to NJ, BW to MD
and me to CA.
