Sloowing dooown. Feel a bit like a watch
somebody forgot to fully wind.
Had a couple of pretty good days though. The
drive to Co Springs is easy and pretty--and the
weather's cooperating. Lisa remembered my drink of
choice--what a woman--and had some stocked in a
cooler.
Lots of familiar faces at Beth Anne's bookstore,
and that always makes it so much easier. I have a
cousin who lives there, and I haven't seen him or
his pretty wife for years. Such a nice surprise
when they dropped in.
Got back reasonably early, enough to order a
full dinner and watch The Green Mile. Very true to
the books, I thought, and well done. Long though,
my mistake. LOL. Still I got close to eight hours.
Not nearly enough at this point. And boy, is it
starting to show.
Off for media in the a.m. Two were phoners,
thank you, God, and I could take my time pulling it
together. Felt like a cold coming on, which worried
me. Got through the morning, did a quick stop at
the mall for a signing and bought a good black
skirt in a beautiful gabardine. Had a lunch at
Rainforest Cafe. Another mistake. Endlessly slow
service. Lisa and I won't be going back.
Came back, took a sinus pill, some aspirin and
got horizontal for a half hour. Seemed to do the
trick. Then I had the fun of an extremely cool
manicure by my new pal Lesa. I have some great
looking nails. Fashion nails, baby. Two tones of
pearly champagne tones in wide diagonals bisected
by a thin dark navy stripe.
Off to the Tattered Cover, which is always a
pleasure. Another cousin! Never met this one at
all--actually my mother's cousin, which makes him
my....I don't know. Third cousin? Whatever. My
mother's going to get such a kick out of this. He
and his lovely wife of 50 years came by.
Screwed up the math last night and arranged my
wake up call 30 minutes too early. Damn. I'll sleep
on the way to Chicago.
Heading east. That's my current mantra.
