Busy, busy, busy.
Had a terrific dinner Sunday night at 44. Very
cool restaurant that struck me as very La Femme
Nikita. Lots of glass and chrome and marble. Great
food, wonderful company and cool bathrooms. Glass
there too. The stalls are in one long mirrored wall
so you sort of have to guess where they are and
nudge at panels. I'm told the men's room is totally
open, so when guys pee against this wall a fountain
starts up. LOL.
Kept it to an early night as I was running low.
Monday morning off. Whew. Did some walking about
with BW, then met my agent and her trusty ass't,
and we were all picked up in a huge limo where the
four of us, Marianne, Beth and Tara--all part of
the Nora Team--headed to NJ to Kathy Onorato's for
pizza. Kathy's added onto her house and it's great.
Terrific new kitchen and family room. The kitchen's
red and white with nifty accents like Coke pop up
napkin holder. A yellow duckie bathroom. The kids'
rooms were redone, too, and adorably.
Always a fun and relaxing time there.
I found the little indie I signed in not really
my usual type of crowd. Very restrained. Though I
did have a Wiccan thank me for portraying them well
in the Donovans.
Early morning on Tues. Snowing again!! Beth and
the driver were both asleep in the car when I went
out at 7:20. LOL. Good interview with a woman who'd
read and enjoyed the book. Downtown to the Putnam
offices to do an interview with the new
Borders.com. That was good, too. It'll be up on
their site in a couple weeks. A quick lunch then a
signing at Borders in the World Train Center. Solid
lunch crowd and Daryl the bookseller was just as
great as last year.
I came back and took a nap. Seriously tired.
Marianne picked me up and we headed out to
Staten Island through horrible traffic. 0- minutes
to the bookstore. We made it without a second to
spare. This Waldens was great. Happy and welcoming,
and the crowd was terrific. Slight problem and both
Marianne and I got pretty queasy on the drive in.
Drive back was better, dropping Marianne off at
her home in Brooklyn, then making it back to my
hotel in just under 40 minutes. I had a bowl of
soup, zoned and went under. Not running low now,
running on fumes.
I have the morning off. Must repack--I'm sending
most everything home with BW and keeping only what
I need for a couple days.
I spend the afternoon and evening in NJ with
Liz. Thursday I have brutally early radio satellite
tour. Must be ready by 5:30. God.
