Couldn't send first post any earlier as Dayton phone wouldn't take my modem. Jeez. They sent engineering up, who went Hmmm several times and told me the line was fine, open. Yes, I said, I know, but it's not reading my modem, see? Demonstrate.

Hmmm.

Plugs it into another phone. Like I hadn't thought of that? LOL No dice. Hmmmm.

Then I couldn't get rid of him. Told him it was okay, I'd deal with it later. But he kept trying different plugs. GO AWAY!!

Ate a sandwich, packed, dressed, and headed out to the wonderful Books and Company--the only reason I'll come to Dayton.

Jenny Cruisie had a signing before mine, and I got to talk to her briefly. But the wall I hit the day before hadn't quite been breached. Very tired.

Books and Company always packs them in and gives everyone a fun time. No real time to play or talk to pals. Plane to catch. Bookstore is shipping the adorable see, speak and hear no evil frogs given me by the Brats. I stuffed the split of champagne and homemade--yum!--cookies from Nancy--the cooking baking Broad in my carry-on. Lovely to see familiar faces, but no time to join same in a quick preflight drink. Bummer.

Plane on time--Dayton airport is small, almost a regional. They have a bookstore, though, and I am author of the month!! A huge and gorgeous display of CM there. I signed about twenty for the happy clerk.

There is real food on the flight! I ate. Prayed rapidly through 20 minutes of serious turbulence. Woman beside me wants to chat, but I refuse to be sucked in. Give polite and simple answers and keep my nose in a book. She drinks FIVE rums and cokes and a double Baileys. Very nervous flier, which I sympathize with, but hey, I'm praying here so shut up.

Takes a full 30 minutes for luggage to come in Dallas. But I'm now at my wonderful hotel, in my wonderful suite which includes lots of vases of fresh flowers, an iced bottle of bubbly, chocolate covered strawberries, a fruit bowl, gorgeous rooms and a big, lovely terrace where I could hold a good sized party were I so inclined.

And tomorrow I have nothing that must be done.

I'm going to drink some wine and go to bed. Get laundry done tomorrow, write, sit on the terrace, drink, eat, sleep. I feel much better already.
