Busy few days. Flew into Cincy early morning,
and was teased with a fabulous day suite at the
Cinncinattian. God. I wanted to live there for a
few days. Just beautiful. The bathroom was the
best. Huge, with a big jacuzzi. All this gorgeous
cherry wood and hunter green tile with brass
accents. Loved it there.
Was informed that CM will debut at #2 on the
Times and WID at #8!! Much delight and happiness.
Did the media thing, then got to sit in the tub
with a glass of wine. Heaven. Back out again, more
media, then the signing, which was great.
Fell into bed at eleven, up and out for morning
show at 6. Ugh. The wonderful Liz Perl met us for
the day. Always nice to have Liz. Crowded media in
Lexington, going all day, but found ten minutes at
a nifty boutique. Scored a great little pearl gray
silk blouse, a necklace and two pair of earrings.
Shopping rush carried me through the next
interview.
Got a real dinner. MEAT.
Signing lovely, got to meet on-line pals.
Scooted out for drive to Louisville. Arrived near
eleven. Tired, tired, tired. Discover the volley
ball team is in the hotel. Ho boy. Young, fresh
faced, enthusiastic, LOUD high school girls. I lost
count of the number of times I heard door slams,
giggles, shouts and racing in the halls. I believe,
at one point, they set up a net and practiced
spiking serves.
Up at five-fifteen. Get on elevator with a trio
of young, fresh faced, enthusiastic high school
girls. They, obviously, don't need to sleep. Am
taken in the dark to TV station. Sit in green room
with two nurses who do baby massage. Nice women.
Sit, wait. Escort gets antsy when we've sat there
30 minutes. Tracks down producer. Turns out I'm not
on the sched. Usual host on vacation, and she
forgot, it seems, to plug me in. Nothing to be
done. Escort steamed, me, I'm too tired to be
steamed.
Back to hotel for live radio remote. Fun. Lots
of St. Patrick's Day stuff, people coming in to the
little cafe. Do interview, sign books, hang out.
Now I'm back in my room, and can stay in till
this afternoon. Will sleep, will organize, will
check out, do one more interview and tonight's
signing then head for Dayton.
Volley ball team is gone. Peace reins in
Louisville.
