Ok. I don't have much time to go into details,
but it was fabulous!!! I asked her if she had
bought any shoes yesterday and she said about 5
pairs. There's a Bloomingdales, Macy's, etc. in the
mall where she was. Nora said she couldn't wait to
get to NY, there's Bruno Mali (?) store there. When
I asked her for a fashion report, she said the
usual black uniform. She looked great. A little
tired.
I got lots of pics, like 10 I think. I'll give
more details later, but I must go get ready for the
horrible thing called work.
Avis -- who is still floating from meeting the
Queen!!!!
Ok. I am ready to tell my part in the Nora Tour
2000.
It started out where I had to find my cousin,
Brandon, and ask him to go with my sister and I to
the signing. Our men were not too pleased to find
out we were going to go by ourselves.
Anyhow, I got a hold of my cousin on his lunch
hour from school. He said "Sure, I'll go." I get a
hold of my dad next and I have to go a half an hour
away to pick up his cell phone, so we could have
one if anything went wrong. By this time my sister
had already took her bf to work and was on her way
from MI to come and get me.
I have to drop papers off to my bf, pick up my
cousin, eat and be ready in about 2 hrs. No time to
go get Nora a present. :o(
Anyhow, my sister shows up at about 5:30, after
2 and a half hours of driving in rain. We do all of
our running around and pick up my cousin, and we're
on the road. It's windy, a Friday night,
raining/sleeting, 6:00 rush hour traffic, in
Chicago. We live southwest of Chicago, no way to
avoid going through the city to get to the signing.
We think we're lost about 50 times, but never
really were. Quite a headache. Until, we get to the
last direction on the paper, then the excitement
kicks in. We can't be more than 20 minutes away.
BUT, we think we have passed it up. Here comes Mr.
Headache to say hello again. We go for about 5 more
minutes on the road and hello, there's a huge
shopping mall two lights away. Woohoo!!!!! We're
there.
We pull into the parking lot and start to try to
look for the B&N. It's right there. Woohoo
again!!! Now, parking spot. No way, whatsoever is
there a Woohoo here. Boofoo far away in BFE, we
find a parking spot. Oh Well. We're here, we're on
time (15 minutes until the signing starts.) Let's
go.
Oh no. No camera. Bribery is a wonderful thing.
I bribed my cousin to go get a disposable camera.
He comes back in time. We're given a number and the
Q&A starts. I'm #69. Not too shabby. She
answers the questions, most of them I already knew
the answer too though. Her patience rivals a saint.
Anyhow, waiting in, line, there's sooo many
people in front of me and I think I'm never going
to get there. But, my time comes soon enough. I'm
getting butterflies in my stomach and I have the
biggest smile on my face. As I said before, I asked
her to explain what ADWOFF means and then she knows
me. The most wonderful feeling in the world. She is
wonderful. I asked her if she did any shopping
today, 5 pairs of shoes, can't wait for the Bruno
Mali store in NY, and I asked her for a fashion
report. She told me the usual black suit. I asked
her a few questions of my own. Was Eve still seeing
Myra about her nightmares, because it wasn't
mentioned at all in WID. She said not
professionally, just on a friendly basis and she
didn't want it to come up in every book because the
fans would be like, "Come on Eve. Get over it." I
also asked her about Roarke thinking about doing
his own digging into Eve's past because he can't
stand it when she has nightmares and it was
mentioned in one paragraph in the book. She also
said no to that. That Roarke loves her too much to
do that. I was just curious about those.
Anyhow, I gave her two Godiva's that I had
bought when my sister went to buy her own copy of
CM to go along with the Diet Pepsi she had. She
liked it. My sister went before me and her pic
taken and then I was going to get my pic and she
gave me a hug. A HUG!!!! She hadn't given anyone
else a hug that day, as of yet, and said that I was
one of her girls. OMG!! My sister was snapping pics
so fast. My sister said the whole trip was worth
that one moment. I was the happiest person in the
world at that exact moment. Some people love to
meet celebs like Bruce Willis and whoever, mine is
Nora. It was like meeting the Queen in England. I
couldn't stop smiling and I wish I could have
stayed and met Katie. I'm sorry I missed you Katie.
And I wish I could've have chatted with Nora after
the signing, but I had to go. My sister still had
to drive back to MI that night to pick up her
husband from work. But, she was tired and her eyes
hurt. So, it was either my cousin or me to drive
home. I did not, in any way whatsoever want to
drive through Chicago. Then my cousin said he had
NEVER driven on the expressway before. That was it.
I have at least some experience. The scariest thing
in my life. Driving in Chicago, through
rain/sleet/snow on a Friday night.
Anyhow, We got home safe and sound and I felt
real sorry for my sister. It took her over three
hours to get home, she got caught by the snow
storm. But she got home safe and sound and she is
my favoritest person in the world right now. I love
her to death.
But, that is my report and it is time for bed
now. I hope this will pass the test. I'll get pics
to you Sue as soon as I get them developed. I'm
hoping to tomorrow.
