No time to check in. Alaska Airlines strikes
again, but Liz was onto them. Switched me to the
big bus in the sky known as Southwest. At least
it's a real plane and not a toy. Arrived in Spokane
a little zoned, but in a timely fashion. Two
members of the RWA chapter met my plane bringing
champagne and chocolate. Bless them.
Spokane's a small city, so the drive from the
airport was easy and quick. Went up to my
room--which was totally beige. Totally. But it had
a kick-butt view of the river. Very impressive. I
fell on the brown bed and conked for fifteen,
ordered some food, pulled it together then headed
off to the reception the chapter was holding for
me. So nice, so civilized and fun. I can't say I
sparkled--feeling to dull of brain to sparkle.
Auntie's bookstore is THE reason to sched a
signing in Spokane. Beautiful old building, lovely,
fun store. They have a huge event center on the
third floor, with a stage. Feels like you ought to
sing and dance. We had about 300 people. Amazing
this late in the tour. Auntie's known what they're
doing, and the event ran smooth. Didn't get out
until nearly ten, fell into bed and got up at six.
Marcy, the escort, took wonderful care of me,
and drove me to the airport this morning. Very
windy the last couple days. Dozed and read on the
flight to Denver, but was knocked into full alert
by heavy chops right before landing. The kind that
bring a wave of fear heat over me and make me start
chanting the Hail Mary.
Got here though, and on time. Lisa is my escort
here, and we've worked together lots. Easy and
comfortable. I'm in the Brown which I love. Had a
hot shower and feel mostly human. Off to drive to
Co Springs.
