Morrow, Georgia
October 11, 2005
Had some down time and tried the mall across the street for a few things I needed. No intention to really shop, just poke. Then I see these amazing Jimmy Choo pumpsin purple. It's love at first sight. I must have them. But alas, it's not to be. Don't have my size! So I will hunt them down elsewhere, hopefully.
Feel kind of off most of the day. Eat chicken soup, which is good.
Lots of traffic on the way out to the signing in Morrow. Nice store, nice staffbut I know we're going to have a little trouble when they say they're nearly sold out of the bookan hour before the event. They don't seem concerned.
I'm invited to stand on a chair to talk to the crowd during the Q&A. I don't think so. LOL. I can just SEE myself falling off.
A fun and friendly crowd, and when they run out of books, they send someone to another store for more copies. Apparently someone who'd come in for the signing expressed great displeasure when there were no books left. I can't blame her.
But we got them, and finished out. Last guy in line brought three copies in of Naked Came The PhoenixSt Martin's Press round robin book I contributed to. Not a Putnam/Berkley book, not bought at the store. No can do. He yelled at Kristy, claimed there were no rules published anywhere. Try my web site, try reading the handouts the store gave out.
Oh well.
Into bed by ten. Awake for some Godforsaken reason at 4:44 a.m. Zone out, toss and grumble to myself for two hours.
Up and out for TV, onto a military base for a stock signing. Two more stock signings on the way back to the hotel. I order a burger thinking I might need red meat to bring myself back up to approaching normal.
Maybe I'll try to catch a nap before I have to get ready for the event at The Margaret Mitchell House tonight.
