Nice signing at the bookstore, but the best really was the driver who took me there, then into NY after.
He gets a little off getting to the store, and the Chili's where I'm going to have a quick dinner with Liz, Heather and Melissa. Anyway, Dominic starts up a conversation. Am I on a book promotion? Yes, indeed, the last week of one. Wants to know what the book's about, and I give him a quick thumbnail. Fiction? Yep. How do we do that, he wants to know. He likes to read and always wonders. He reads John Grisham and Nora Roberts. I have to laugh—they don't book these services in my name. I am NR, I tell him.
Get out!
He's flustered and excited, and fumbles with the storage deal between the seats. Pulls out a copy of Northern Lights that obviously being read—bookmarked with his grandson's picture. I take the book, hold my picture on the back up to my face. See? Me.
He's beyond himself. LOL. Just thrilled, tells me I'm better than Grisham.
Good to see Liz and the gang. Then off to the event. Very smooth event, thankfully.
Then into NY. Not much traffic, and I'm just so happy to be here. Get settled in, go to bed.
Shopping!
Hit my pals at Peachtree first and buy me some rewards for hard work. LOL. A gorgeous blue diamond bracelet that looks antique. Multicolored sapphire necklace. They talk me into earrings and a bracelet, though I don't like to match. Too pretty not to take. Find another diamond tennis bracelet. Too big, so they'll fix and make me a little pendant out of the excess.
They're redone the store, and it looks wonderful.
Onto Saks to look for the Jimmy Choo's—no luck. But I bag a nice cashmere turtleneck in a heathery purple.
Walk up Madison to the JC boutique, describe the shoes, and voila! I'm THRILLED. Talk shoes with a couple other customers, and end up with another pair—bronze sling-backs. Gorgeous. Happy day.
I have a big picnic basket filled with fun food and fun DVDs sent by my agent. Can't wait to play with it.
Going into NJ, to have pizza with friends, then do the event.
