APRIL 5th - SAM'S CLUB - INDIANAPOLIS, IN
Well, the day started out bright and early and Dawn and I headed up to the Sam's Club.  We stopped for breakfast at the local McDonald's and took the wrong turn on our way out.  So, after driving in the wrong direction for 10 miles, we get ourselves turned around and back on schedule.  We had a wonderful time talking and getting to know each other better.  It's great to have a driving buddy :)

Dawn and I arrived at the Sam's with no further problems, and we get ourselves situated.  Oh, and I should mention that this is where I got gas and almost froze my butt off!!! It was over 80 degrees just a couple fo days ago!  I want to do a little bit of shopping before the signing to kill some time (we're once again two hours early).  Dawn and I get my stuff and head over to the cafe area where Wendy and Jill are sitting.  This is right where Nora will be doing the signing and we talk with the staff about it.  For such short notice, they've done a beautiful set up an antique looking desk (one lady stopped to check it out and looked for a price tag on her way out), flowers, and I think balloons.  The staff here is also incredibly friendly, and somewhat organized.  I saw Dawn talking to some of them on her way in, so I think she gave them the heads up on what to expect and what might make it go more smoothly.  While we had been shopping, they had called in "security", a unit from the Indianapolis Police Department.  Very nice, friendly guys.  Pretty swanky ;)

They started forming up the line, and we waited a bit to see if Debbie and Deanna were going to make it.  Finally, when they had split the line up into another section to keep the crowding down, we all (Dawn, Jill, Wendy, the Nancys and I) trooped over and got in line.  While we're waiting in line, the people who had been doing post-its for personalizations earlier, were now collecting names for drawings for copies of Birthright on audio.  No, I didn't win.  But Nancy D and Jill did!  Jill got a call on her cell phone while we were waiting for them to get started and it's Debbie and Deanna!  They were about 15 minutes away and needed directions.  It turns out that they had missed one of their exits.  We made our way up to Nora eventually and had more signings and photos.  I managed to drag Publicity Heather in for one.  We said goodbye and good luck to Nora and Heather for the rest of their trips and headed out for lunch.

We at the Claddaugh Pub and the food was great.  I had Connemara chicken which seemed to be a variation of Chicken Cordon Bleu, but used rasher bacon and herbed cream cheese.  Very, very good.  I also had for dessert Guinness Chocolate Cake.  Oh so rich!  Also had a taste of Dawn's Bailey's Cheesecake...mmmmmm.  I just can't emphasize enough how much I loved getting together with these ladies.  We shared pictures from the first get-togethers and weddings, food (Nancy's cookies), and lovely, lovely conversation.  We finally finished up and the kind hostesses took group pictures of us.  After much hugging and promises to see each other in July, we parted ways.  I dropped Dawn off at her sister's and said good-bye to her and her family.  I think we talked her mom into coming to TTP in July with a friend of hers who is a fan of Nora's.  I finally made my way back to Champaign, and some needed rest :)

Thanks again to Nora for putting up with these tours year after year, Publicity Liz, Heather, and Marianne for putting together such a great tour, and to the ladies of ADWOFF who make getting together such an enjoyable and over-too-damn-soon experience!
