Okay ... What IDIOT came up with the idea of an
online Nora Roberts Book Club, thereby causing
confusion and near mutiny on our beloved board?
WHAT?
IT WAS ME?
oh.
Well, in that case, I take FULL RESPONSIBILITY.
There! I've said it! So please, oh, please forgive
me? I NEVER - EVER - AT NO TIME - wanted or
intended to steer our posts away from other topics.
Even if we refocused our thoughts to Nora's books,
our Blessed Tangents would often rear their
magnificent heads, and we Broads would be off and
running.
If we incorporate a few GUIDELINES (not rullles
- we don't need no stinking rules) I think this
will work. So ...
1. From this day forward the Nora Roberts Book
Club will be known as the NRBC (NBC is too much
like the network)
2. Any message posted that contains references
to the Book of the Board will have the following
components:
a. The SUBJECT WILL READ: NRBC - Followed by the
book name. IE., SUBJECT: NRBC/Hidden Star
b. As an extra precaution for those who start to
read a post without glancing at the subject, the
first line of the post should read: The following
concerns the novel: HIDDEN STAR (or whatever
book we're reading.) Then toggle down two or three
lines. It will be a real courtesy to those who
haven't read the book or don't want to read the
post.
3. Let's be FAIR in our posts. No one is
expected to like every book they read ... but if
you are going to criticize, please back up your
comments with explanations. I would hate to see
something like, "Oh, I hate those '... In Death
books.'" That line in itself is an opinion, but
unfair to the reader of the post. But if you follow
that line with - "The violence upsets me" - then a
discussion can ensue.
4. We will have to come up with a plan to choose
subsequent books to read. Since HIDDEN STAR
is the first, logic would allow for CAPTIVE
STAR to be next. But when have we ever let
logic rule?
5. We have agreed to read HIDDEN STAR by
November 15th, but the first "real" discussion will
start on Sunday, November 16th, in the "Sacred
Sins" chat room. LOL. How fitting!
6. Two nights have been set aside to
specifically talk about THE BOOK - Tuesday and
Thursday. Once again, our chat room will be a
private room named for the book we are reading.
THIS DOES NOT MEAN THAT THE BOOK CAN'T BE DISCUSSED
IN ANY OF OUT OTHER CHAT ROOMS. If you want to talk
about it ... TALK! PLEASE!
I think those are enough "guidelines." We'll
work out the kinks as we go. If anyone has a
comment, or something to add, please e-mail
SUECBDR!!!!!! She is very good at crowd control.
Rofl.
Wishing you good books and good reading.
