Notes & Thoughts
Finally, ADWOFF #9 has arrived. We had wanted to
get this edition out in mid-August, but then
several things happened:
- Prior pictures of ADWOFF needed to be
revised to create space (almost all of the
ADWOFF pictures from last year's TTP are now in
color!)
- Because of space consideration, ADWOFF took
advantage of a special offer to attempt to
expand the amount of space available for
uploading information
- Ottis had to learn how to create and upload
webpages! She did a fabulous job <VBG>
- Wym was sick for a couple weeks :-(
Space Problems
What is this space thing? AOL allows 2
mega-bytes of space per screenname. Thus, ADWOFF
has had 10 MB available. Because more & more
fans of Nora are discovering ADWOFF, I have been
hesitant to remove earlier issues to create more
space. Instead, I went through and tried to reduce
pictures to come up with more space.
And then, AOL made an offer where I could double
the 10 MB to 20 (hopefully I'll see this additional
space in October). If you go to ADWOFF's homepage,
you'll see the change -- it switches to
hometown.aol.com -- and a framed area appears
across the top of the screen. In addition, COOKIES
are now present. <sigh> I detest computer
cookies (it's the internet's way of tracking who
has visited each site -- usually results in
unsolicited e-mail).
If AOL gives me that extra 10 MB of space, then
ADWOFF will continue on as you have seen it. If AOL
doesn't (there was the infamous fine print), then
decisions have to be made.
- Either issues of ADWOFF will have to be
deleted or modified severely
- Additional space will need to be purchased
Right now, ADWOFF only costs the price of AOL
each month. Everyone who contributes does so
without any kind of compensation. ADWOFF is
available to anyone who has internet access.
Because of the uncertainty of space in the
future, I would like feedback from each of you as
to what you'd like to see happen. Basically there
are several options: cut-back ADWOFF or expand it
-- by purchasing a domain or getting additional
space through creative measures. If we do a domain
(i.e. -- www.adwoff.com), funds will need to be
raised for it. If we do not do a domain -- but you
don't want to see ADWOFF cutback, then ways to get
more space will need to be brainstormed.

Death Quizzes
For a variety of reasons, most of them poor
<g>, I fell behind with giving feedback to
the quizzes. I have tried to save all of them --
eventually I'll either put the answers online or
get caught up with the feedback. Your patience is
appreciated. (This is still
something that I need to work on; patience!)
Messageboard
This is another area that has been neglected. I
want to especially apologize to all non-AOL fans of
ADWOFF. I am still trying to figure out a way which
will allow AOL users & internet users to
celebrate our love and admiration for Nora &
her wonderful stories together. (Guess what?! As of May 2001,
thanks to a generous donation, this is NO LONGER a
problem! Woo-HOO!)
Mailing List
Because I switched computers, I have lost the
mailing list. I have tried to build it up, but if
you see that ADWOFF #9 has appeared and you did not
get an e-mail letting you know that, please e-mail
me or use the "update" feature on the front page of
ADWOFF to sign up again.
Your feedback is always appreciated. It is very
rewarding, motivational, and exciting to know that
ADWOFF has been enjoyed by so many. We will
continue to strive to bring you as much information
about Nora and the BB/Ns.
Even though I have neglected a few things over
the past couple months, please know that your
concerns and interests have never been forgotten. I
think we have a pretty good thing going with ADWOFF
-- it's just going to continue to get bigger &
better! <VBG>
