ADWOFF is all about teamwork. So many BB/Ns take
part to help to make each issue that much more
special.
Nora also plays a key role -- and with this
issue of ADWOFF, she has played a larger role than
she probably realizes. Back in May, I had e-mailed
her with a question -- which she graciously
answered, and then she asked a question that caught
my attention in a hurry -- it was something like,
"Sue, tell me about that computer of yours."
Turn the
Page Bookstore Cafe was upgrading their
computer; Nora wanted to donate the old computer
(which also just happened to be her old computer)
to ADWOFF -- natch, me.
====:-O
I didn't have to think twice. <g>
Thus, this is the first issue of ADWOFF produced
on a magical computer. Because it has a color card,
hard drive space which my old one didn't, I have
been able to stay at home and do much of the work
for ADWOFF #9. Before, I often spent hours upon
hours at
That
Bookstore in Danville working on those
computers.
The most distinguishable thing about this
new computer is the keyboard: it's obvious a
writer worked the keys. On many of them, the
letters are completely rubbed off!
ADWOFF wants to take this space to publicly
thank Nora and
Turn the Page
Bookstore Cafe for their generous gift.
We'll try to do them proud. ADWOFF also needs to
thank Jason, Nora's son, for all his work in
preparing the computer for ADWOFF's use.
Ottis also deserves acknowledgement for her
efforts not just with ADWOFF #9 -- her work on the
Wolfie Award, her scanning & uploading of
pictures AND creating pages (a first), but for her
efforts in getting the Official BB/N t-shirt for
TTP II (aka TTP 3rd Anniversary). She used her
Wolfie logo -- created for ADWOFF #8 on the
upper-left-hand chest; she then incorporated the
saying, "TTP II - July 11, 1998 ... The Insanity
Continues ... <ewg>" into a logo for the back
of the T-shirt. Once she finished all of this work,
Ottis went to a local screen-printer and negotiated
a price for creating over 60 T-shirts for the BB/Ns
and authors appearing at TTP.
As you'll discover, Edith made a tremendous
donation which kept our prices for purchasing these
t-shirts to a bare minimum. Still, Ottis had to
collect monies from Broads from all over the U.S.,
send out t-shirts to those BB/Ns who could not be
at TTP, and then carry the rest to TTP!
That Ottis was able to pull this project off
deserves A LOT of praise from the BB/Ns who
received a t-shirt.
This issue of ADWOFF #9 contains the more
pictures than ever! Thank you to Ottis, Anonymous
Diane, Sis, Edith, Phyllis, Wym, and Ruth for
contributing your wonderful shots.
We also had articles from some familiar faces --
Bookie is back (with a vengeance!); Wym again
shares her remarkable talents with us (you will
adore her Nora song); Nancy helped out with the
Quilt Weekend -- she also contributed a review of
The Reef (as she should since she WON it at
TTP!); Phyllis put together a very witty and
informative Phantom piece; Sis created a Man of the
Month (after I put a gun to her head! ;-); several
BB/Ns were willing to share memorable moments of
TTP II: Arlene, Edith, Judy, Lisa, Nancy, Ottis,
Patti, Phyllis, Ruth, Sis, Tracey, The Two Jeans,
Vicky, and Wym.
If I have missed anyone, it was not intentional.
Please let ADWOFF know, and we'll add you to this
page ASAP!
