The Raffle - 2001

For the first time last year, we held a raffle at the TTP luncheon. There were 5 baskets crammed with all sorts of goodies and tied in to romance themes and Nora's books. The proceeds went to The Nora Roberts Foundation, a charitable foundation set up by Nora and her husband BW to give to deserving organizations such as the Literacy Fund and to provide scholarships to students from Nora's area who are majoring in a writing related field in college. We collected over $800!

This year based on your response, we're going to have at least 6 baskets. Some of you may be interested in donating an item to the basket, either store bought or handmade, or you may just want to donate a dollar amount and let the people who are putting the baskets together choose something they need to complete a theme. We're going to have baskets based on The Villa, The Gallaghers, In Death, Honest Illusions, to name a few of the themes, and there will be others.

We've already had promises of books by Nora, MaryKay McComas, Pat Gaffney, Donna Kaufmann, Kasey Michaels, Mariah Stewart, May McGoldrick/Jan Coffey, Elizabeth Keyes, Alice Duncan and Terri Brisbin and others that will be sprinkled among all the baskets as well.

Here's how to get in on the fun. If you want to donate a basket item or support the purchase of one, contact Phyllis at PhylL9226@aol.com. That's also the place to buy your raffle tickets. The tickets are $2 each or 3 for $5. Phyllis will give you the details of where to send your items and/or checks and how they should be made out. There is no limit to the number of tickets you can buy, but you can only win one basket. If you can't be present at the drawing on Sunday, July 15, when Nora picks the winners, we'll find a way to ship your prize to you.

It should also be noted that thanks to Katie Dunneback's "luck" and generosity, part of the raffle on Sunday will be for a copy of the hardest book to find of Nora's, Promise Me Tomorrow. To find out more information, go to ADWOFF's PMT page. Just think, for just $3.50 (original cover price!), PMT could be yours!

With PayPal, it's NOT too late to be a part of the raffle. If you're interested, e-mail Phyllis before Saturday ends (July 14, 2001).
