Every now and then, I shake my head & have
to pinch myself when I realize that I am in touch
with wonderfully, talented writers. This was
certainly the case with Lisa Scottoline--as she
offered to send me her newest hardcover,
Mistaken Identity.
People magazine calls Lisa the "female
John Grisham." IMHO, I don't think John can hold
her bra. In fact, with Mistaken Identity,
Lisa has elevated her writing to the levels of such
talents as Michael Connolly and Ridley Pearson.
While these two authors do not rule the
bestsellers' lists, ala John Grisham, they do rule
in their extraordinary story-telling abilities.
With Mistaken Identity, Lisa enters their
ranks with a HUGE splash.
In addition, Publishers Weekly gave
Mistaken Identity a ***STARRED
REVIEW***--high praise indeed.

Imagine, if you will, being in your late
thirties--and discovering that you might not only
have a sister--but that sister may also be your
twin. And not only that--but she's behind
bars--charged with murdering a police detective.
That is what Bennie Rosato faces when
Mistaken Identity begins.
Alice Connolly claims she's been set-up, that
she's innocent of murdering Detective Anthony Della
Porta. When she declares that her current counsel
is incompetent, she uses her likeness to Bennie to
convince Rosato to take a case--a week before she
is to go on trial.
Bennie's specialty in the past has been to take
on corrupt police officers, but even she is
skeptical in Connolly's conspiracy claims--until
Bennie's hands are tied time after time by the
judge, the prosecuting attorney, and the police
department.
Bennie uses two of her best lawyers in her
firm--Mary DiNunzio and Judy Carrier--and hires
retired police officer Lou Jacobs as
investigator--to try to unravel the pieces to the
puzzle that faces her with Alice Connolly.
Mistaken Identity takes off when Bennie
enters the courtroom and begins her defense of
Connolly. Throughout Mistaken Identity, Lisa
gives story flesh--her characters literally come to
life ... and face curves & hills & twists
& turns with the best of them.
If you love courtroom thrillers,
mystery-who-dun-its ... Mistaken Identity is
a MUST read. Wonderful stuff.
Note to Lisa: Please bring us more wonderful
stories from Bennie, Judy, Mary, & Lou!
