Monday, March 1, Nora begins her LONGEST, most
grueling book tour ever (don't forget the Diet
Coke, chocolate, & French fries when you go to
see her!) to celebrate the release of her newest
hardcover--River's End. For those of you who
are able to see Nora after March 7, you'll also
have the double treat of being able to get
Conspiracy in Death personalized to YOU.
Conspiracy in Death continues the story
of Lieutenant Eve Dallas and her husband,
Roarke--along with the cast of supporting
characters in Feeney, Peabody, McNab, Dr. Mira,
Mavis, Nadine, Summerset, et al--into the year
2059.
Eve and Peabody are on call when the murder of a
sidewalk sleeper is called in; when they arrive at
the scene, not only is Eve confronted by a gruesome
death (a man's heart is literally stolen from his
body) but also by an officer (Ellen Bowers) with a
chip on her shoulder toward Eve--a chip that's
bigger than the Grand Canyon and Pacific Ocean
combined.
While Eve and Peabody begin piecing together the
puzzle of this murder--and others that they find
connected, Bowers begins to weave her web to
destroy Dallas. Eve's world crumbles around her
shoulders, however, when an internal
investigation--based on the complaints of Bowers
moves the NYPSD to suspend Dallas--taking her
shield--her identity.
The greatest strength of Conspiracy in
Death comes when Eve finds herself in
trouble--and instead of shouldering the load on her
own as she had to do in the past--she has the broad
shoulders of Roarke and her friends and colleagues
to lean upon. In addition to the professional
struggles that Eve faces in Conspiracy in
Death, we also find out more about Eve, the
person--and her nightmares as a young girl.
The DEATH stories just keep getting better and
better as the characters become so well known to us
they have become three-dimensional ... like friends
... it is painful to know that we must wait until
October before Loyalty in Death is
available!
But until then, we do have Conspiracy in
Death; when you get it in your hot hands, do
yourself a favor. Turn off the phone. Crawl into
bed and snuggle under the covers. And prepare
yourself for an all-nighter--because you will NOT
want to put Conspiracy in Death down ...
until you get to that final page ...
