Treasures Lost, Treasures Found
"I found it, I found it!"
How many of us have expressed similar sentiments
when an out-of-print, or hard-to-find, Nora
Roberts's book pops up in our favorite used book
store? How many Noraholics are still looking for
Promise Me
Tomorrow, even
though Nora would rather it stay lost (lol)?
Treasures Lost,
Treasures Found
(Silhouette Intimate Moments #150) is a column for
anyone who wants help searching for those
"treasures" (and what better word can describe all
of Nora Roberts's books?)
Here's how it works:
1. Send an e-mail to
Nina4Books@aol.com (just Nina4Books if you're on AOL) listing the book
(or books) you can't find. In the subject box, make
sure you type TLTF. I delete unwanted mail!
2. I'll post your requests
in the next newsletter. For example -
Wymzee@aol.com
wants Silhouette Special Edition #361, MacGregor
plaid only. Be
specific.
3. Be sure you want to
receive e-mail, because you will. Hopefully, lots
of it. With all of us looking across the country,
we're bound to find your book. Then, anyone with an
extra copy of your "treasure," or the address of a
store that has it, will E-MAIL YOU DIRECTLY
.
4. You're on your own from
here. Contact the person (or persons) who have your
book.
5. We're on the honor
system. If someone wants a mint condition book,
(see explanation below) please don't send them one
with two store stamps and the last page missing!
And if cost matters, say so!
6. Do NOT e-mail me if
Sally in Sioux City didn't send you her promised
check. Or if Magda in Miami sent you the wrong
book. That will be for you guys to work out.
7. I certainly don't mind
including other authors in this search, if no one
else no one else has any objections. After all, the
object of Treasures Lost, Treasures Found is to
make wishes come true.
BOOK CONDITIONS
This is general
information taken from a collector's guide to
romance books and a hard-to-find book catalogue. In
the end, only you can judge what you want.
A - MINT - An unread book.
No store stamps, spine is not broken, no bent or
dog-eared corners, no bent pages. PERFECT, PERFECT,
PERFECT.
B - EXCELLENT - Maybe read
once. No store stamps. A teensy-weensy bend in the
cover, etc.
C - VERY GOOD - Might have
been read several times. Might have a store stamp.
Bent or dog-eared corners, yellow pages,
etc.
D - GOOD - Very well read,
several store stamps, etc.
E - FAIR to POOR - Let's
face it - A favorite copy. Read so many times, it's
about to fall apart.
Okay, all you honorary
fairy godmothers across the land - polish your
wands, fluff your wings. We've got some heavy
bibbity, bobbity, and booing to do. Have fun and
good luck.
Nina (aka
Wymzee)
